The Mission of JWAS
The mission of the Jaxson William Augustus Swank Foundation is to perpetuate Jaxson's loving memory by nurturing selected individuals educationally, emotionally, and socially from preschool through higher education to achieve their greatest potential while developing strong moral character as future leaders through our Trilogy of Care.

Who CAn apply
The JWAS Foundation welcomes applications for children ages 2.5 to 5-years-old. The child must show readiness to be in a primary environment (ability to follow direction, accept a gentle no, be potty trained, etc.) Families must qualify within our income guidelines of at or below 250% of the federal poverty level ($78,000 for a family of 4). While families need not reside in St. Joseph County (IN), all Jaxson Scholars expected to enroll at a local school in the area.
All Jaxson Scholars and JWAS Families are expected to attend at least 75% (8 of 10) of our character and leadership development programming each year. Families must also be actively engaged at their child’s school and in their learning progress. Families are expected to be sound moral examples of character while serving our community at large. |
How To AppLY
Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance as a Jaxson Scholar. The JWAS Foundation Selection Committee determines a child’s acceptance into our Jaxson Scholarship program. Our Selection Committee conducts six to eight finalist interviews with the applicant and parents each November. Up to four qualified Jaxson Scholarship recipients are typically selected each year and will be notified in December. The 2025 Jaxson Scholarship application window is now closed. Look for the 2026 application to open in September of 2025.
When we think about our family, we think of the word ‘blessed’. Never in a million years did we think something this amazing would be knocking at our door. There are no words to describe the fulfilling feeling we feel as a whole family. We believe that our girls were placed exactly where they needed to be. They have always been beautiful lights, JWAS is only guiding them to grow. Our family is honored to be a part of such an amazing legacy for Jaxson!
